Plot Synopsis
A uniquely refreshing and realistic musical documentary, We Did It On A Song chronicles five 17-year-old high school students preparing for the baccalaureate exam (bac) while singing through their senior year. Their hometown Boulognesur-Mer, a major fishing port in northern France, is bogged down in financial crisis. The high unemployment rates have affected the youngsters’ career choices. They are dreamers as well as rebels, making parents worry about their future. Gaëlle wants to become an actress, which disconcerts her port electrician father; Rachel's parents, who open a stable in the country, are supportive of her choice, regardless of remuneration; Rachel's rebellious poet boyfriend raises a duck, feeling depressed; the pierced Alex and his working-class dad start a rock group to release their tension; Alex's girlfriend Caroline feels totally at a loss about her future and her parents feel likewise. When there are no more jobs in town, the youngsters have to move elsewhere to realise their dreams.
